It’s Friday night. You’re going out.
There’s a special lady (please read “lady” like Leon Phelps) you have your eye on and it’s time to set the bar inaccessibly high. You buy a new shirt, grab some flowers, shower (key boys, key) and it’s time to pick up your date.
Until last week, a cab was your only option – but now - Chicago has another choice.
I introduce you to Uber, a private car service app that allows you to request a car, track its whereabouts by GPS and pay through your phone. This isn’t your standard, yellow, did-something-die-in-here?-I-don’t-know cab but a sleek, black, what-up-leg-room luxury vehicle.
Full disclosure ‘Hood rats (get it? ‘Hood rat – mall rat? Someone who spends time on the ‘Hoods site? No? Ok.) my friend is the Operations Manager for Uber in Chicago. If I hear about how great it is one more time I might throw my shoe at a wall for no other reason than hoping it would be cathartic.
That said, I conducted a scientific focus group of one lady (ie. me) in a test ride and I must admit that I felt super fancy. Despite thinking I was too cool for black car service, there’s something about riding in a nice car that turns a normal date night into something just a little bit better.
So if you’re looking to set a precedent you’ll never be able to live up to after your second or third date, I highly recommend an Uber – and don’t forget the flowers.
